what is this wiki-thing?

It's a collaborative website. Anyone can edit it (that means you). Just use the edit link at the top or bottom of any page. To create a new page, put some words in double brackets: [[wiki help]] (wiki help). Or just run some capitalized words together: WikiSandbox (WikiSandbox). Presto, link. Follow the link to create your new page.

For more on the wiki-concept, read what is wiki?, or go check out the very first wiki ever, started by Ward Cunningham (it's mostly about software development, though like any good wiki it has pages on all kinds of interesting topics).

Be nice, don't delete other people's stuff, contribute interesting things, and help make this a good wiki. Feel free to start pages on anything that interests you, or to comment on existing pages. You can sign your contributions like this: [[~carl]] (carl) to create a link to a profile page just for you, where you can say a little bit about yourself.

You can also spice up your contributions with various kinds of emphasis and other things. There's a brief reference at the bottom of the edit screen, or check out the basic editing help. To try it out, go play in the wiki sandbox.
